This fantastic flower is traditionally called “Almrausch” (Rhododendron in Latin). With good weather conditions the alpine rose – that blooms only in alpine areas above an altitude of 1.500 metres – gives enough nectar, that is collected by the bees and transformed into delicious alpine rose honey. Its taste is mellow sweet and - like almost everything that is produced or harvested in high mountain regions – very salutary. The blossom period is in July.
